Subaortic Stenosis

• Is a form of subvalvular aortic stenosis
• Can often by confused with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy b/c both can present with similar changes in the ventricle on Echo

Distinguish from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

• LVOT Obstruction
  • Fixed LVOTO → Subaortic Stenosis
    • absence of systolic anterior motion (SAM) of the anterior leaflet of the MV
  • Dynamic LVOTO (late-peaking, dagger-shapped Doppler signal → HCM
    • SAM is present
  •
