• Causes include PE, ACS, hypOthyroidism, ventricular arrhythmias, and heritable or acquired cardiomyopathic or arrhythmic disorders.
    • Exposure to stimulants (sympathomimetic drugs such as amphetamines) and other medications (such as tricyclic antidepressants) can lead to tachycardia. Abrupt withdrawal of certain medications such as beta-blockers or central sympatholytic agents such as clonidine, may also cause rebound tachycardia.
