• AV dissociation simply means that that the atria and ventricles are each being controlled by their own independent pacemakers.

• While AV dissociation is present in all cases of CHB, CHB is not present in all cases of AV dissociation.

  • Complete Heart Block is but one variety of AV dissociation.

• If a P wave is properly timed, it may conduct to the ventricle in AV dissociation; this is termed a capture beat.
